Directors' Message
When Robert Kennedy was explaining to the American people why the Apollo space program was going to
take man to the moon he said "we are not doing it because it is easy, we are doing it because it is
hard".
It is easy to stay in our comfort zone. It's easy to work with our existing knowledge. It's reassuring
to become good at doing the same things we did yesterday and the day before that.
Nothing could be simpler than to hire a race track, set up some cones and then teach people how to brake, swerve and evade. It's certainly very easy to teach a little road law, talk about driver attitudes and even show a graphic video or two.

The reality is that these types of activities just don't produce safer drivers. Sure, most people will
have learned a thing or two, but put a thousand people through this experience and there's just no
evidence that people are more careful afterwards.
It's not easy to accept this fact, it's hard. It's so hard to accept that many people in the industry
just ignore it as some kind of academic rhetoric.
But what if it's true? What if it's real? What if keeping people safe is harder than we first thought?
It means that intuitive, simplistic and pragmatic solutions won't work. It means that we need to
understand our weaknesses, face up to our failures and seek knowledge beyond our current
understanding.
This is not easy, It's hard!
At Corporate Driver Training Australia we embrace the notion that, "the more we know, the more we know
we don't know". We try to step outside of our comfort zones and ask the hard questions. But more
importantly, we are driven to come up with solutions based on the best knowledge. We are prepared to
look critically at ourselves and to make the tough changes.
Only people who share this commitment make it on to the team. Only people who live it daily remain on
the team. Why? Because at the end of the day nothing is more important than our safety, and yours.
