Trailer Towing Familiarization Course - Half Day

Description
This program is designed for novice or experienced drivers who may be called upon to tow small or medium sized trailers (Including tandem trailers), with passenger vehicles as part of their employment.

Typically, this program is delivered on site. Because the program is of about 4.5 hours duration, two courses can be delivered on any one day.

CDTA can supply a vehicle & trailer if required for an additional fee. .
Towing a trailer
Aims
The program is a combination of both classroom and practical learning. Up to 4 participants will learn;
   How to check that the trailer & vehicle are a safe and legal combination
   How to prepare the ‘rig' for a journey
   How to hitch & unhitch
   How to secure a load with considering weight distribution
   How to conduct a mid journey safety check
   Driving techniques to optimise safety
   How to reverse a trailer (basic skill set)
Certification

A Certificate of Completion is issued after the training.

This program will help drivers know what to do before & while towing a trailer, and how to think in ways that promote cautious behaviour.
